Educational Publicity - Project: Researching Leaflets

I have been
looking at samples leaflets to give me an idea of the content/ layout as well as format and how they were folded.

This one was designed for tourism, more particularly the Palaces of Hampton Court and Kensington.
It holds a lot of information and is really busy. However, the unfolding is logical but there is still "breathing space" to between each listing. The listing itself on the inside pages has been colour coded. It makes it visually easier to follow; the reader knows exactly where one section starts and finished. The size of the type is quite big.

I have also found this website with interesting layouts:

Educational Publicity - Project

Started a new project, deadline coming very shortly, in all it will have been 5 weeks. The brief is to designed a folded leaflet, A2 size, which will list courses of any of those colleges:
Although it is mainly an information graphic piece, there is still opportunity to create an inspiring piece of design either at the back of the A2 leaflet or as a whole.

The first workshop was mainly about deciding what sort of information should be included as well as finding ways to fold.

Questions needed to be raised in order to get started.

It is important to know from start what sort of information should be included.
I'm also looking into ways to fold before experimenting with my own.

Collage - On The Wall

Just a few days before the end of term, we had to bring in all of our collages to put them onto the wall of the gallery @ LCC. For a day exhibition.

It was really nice and interesting to see how other people had done theirs. Mostly I would say that everybody worked really hard on this, but there were a few exeptional ones.

It was quite challenging to work out how to put them onto the walls so that everyone (or most of us) would have the space to do so.

A lot of work has been put into those!

I was glad when the last one was done, but if I had to do it again I would try to use more different materials and experiment more with photocopying, enlarging or reducing. I only tried those towards the end and I really found them easier and more interesting to do as well as being very fast.

Collage - A few examples

The collages are now all finished and since it has been a little while, I am able to look at them from a different perspective. I have selected a small selection
This was done using a letterset, photocopied onto a colour thin cardboard.

This one is the same as above, but photocopied in black and white instead of colour. I used some paper from a yellow pages book for the background.

This was done with some text photocopied at a larger scale. All the text comes from the same leaflet.

When I saw those shoes, the glitter reminded me of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, when she clicks her heels.

Very Interesting Designs

Whilst looking for example of contemporary designs, I came accross this website... I think it may be part of the National French Library but I'm not sure.
I like how the word "Graphisme (s)" has been put, there seems to be 3 layers of it: Blue, Red and Green. It gives it a fuzzy effect.

My favourite is the third one: Fragile. It is not crowded, it has enough negative space and the typeface has been placed in a way that it "adds spice" to the whole composition without being over the top.
